First VBOI Business to Hit $1 Million in Sales

Albert Tansey of Tansey Electric

Bedford, MA- It’s official, the first Veteran Business Owners Initiative member has reached new heights with $1 million in sales after completing the organization’s Business Gym. The VBOI is overwhelmed with pride to announce the news that Tansey Electric owned and operated by veteran Albert Tansey is the first member to be granted this recognition.

Albert Tansey says he owes everything to the VBOI and SBA for connecting him with the right people and giving him the guidance to succeed in an unsettled economy. Albert explains, “While attending a free SBA event in New Hampshire, I met Gerald Pinsky, the VA facilitator of the VBOI and he encouraged me to take part in the VBOI’s 18 module class… that is how my business was put in motion.”

Albert continues to give great praise to the people who helped him get to where it is now, “I was given coaching and the push to get my finances together and approach the bank for a loan. Hard work and the support from VBOI is why I am here celebrating $1 million in sales today.”

Albert Tansey has had quite the journey from military veteran to owner of a fully functioning and profitable electric contracting company; and he is not alone. Many veterans have become alumni of the VBOI’s sponsored program, the Business Gym; an 18 module program that covers course work in business functions critical for success. These modules include marketing, finance, legal and business plan development. Frequently, the classes bring in guest speakers who share real world advice and teach basic business systems. Once completing the Business Gym, veterans are given access to mentors who range from professionals working in business law to marketing, to accounting and give great assistance in their journey toward entrepreneurship.

Over the last 10 years, the VBOI has been given assistance to hundreds of businesses. In 2014, the VBOI was awarded 501 C (3) status to allow them to legally file as a charitable organization. The VBOI looks forward to all of their Business Gym students reaching the same success that Tansey Electric has accomplished and to never give up hope in their search for financial independence.
